I would like to nominate one of our nurses Ms. Mary Grace Valeros for the annual spirit of caring recognition. I have known Ms. Mary Grace Valeros for past 7 years, she joined our organization HSC Pediatric Center in May 2010 as an agency nurse and became a full time staff nurse in November 2010.
Mary Grace is truly as inspiration to the nursing community, she is innovative and constantly looking for ways to improve the quality of care to our patients. She uses her own time and resources to promote the organization on the units, she strives to resolve concerns/issues and communicates in a timely manner through proper channels. She is eager to expand her professional knowledge and to share what she learns with her colleagues.
For example, after attending a pediatric conference she gave a presentation to the Nursing Leadership and also did a poster presentation to the staff on the units. She created a flow chart, and used the staff members in a video presentation to improve time management, training families and literally showed the present processes that are in place and how we can make little changes and make a huge improvement in delivering good patient care and improving overall patient satisfaction. She is a whiz in computers, creates the templates for staff to manage their day in completing their tasks in an effective manner.
Mary Grace is not only a great nurse, she also makes time in volunteering. She is a great believer in giving back to society especially to the underserved populations. She raises money for worthy causes and shares it with the staff to explore ways to help the society.
In conclusion, it is my honor to nominate Mary Grace for Sprit of Caring recognition, because she has the qualities that I think would support her nomination which include her accountability, eagerness to learn and her ability to critically think and problem-solve to find solutions to clinical patient care problems.
